Celtic Men
and Birds

18" x 23"

Intertwined animals were often part of Celtic ornamentation, especially in the late Celtic period. These interlacing men and birds are from the Book of Kells, where the original is about 2 inches high. Here, in bookmatched spruce, the design is carved through some l,300 cut lines, each one representing several separate cutting strokes.
