| Decorative quilted maple wall piece inlaid with strips of rosewood, maple and ebony. The exceptional figure of this wood is characteristic of some Western broadleaf maples. Because these are a softer wood than Eastern or European maples, they are subject to great compression by virtue of their own weight: the wood fibers are consequently distorted into such spectacular figure. |
